Girls Camp-Tuesday July 10th

Tuesday was a fun filled day for our ward.
We started the day off at Legacy Lake.
Mindy, Aubrey, Nicole, Shae, Marinn, Amelia, Syree
There are two different types of canoes for the girls to paddle. There is the "Stable Mable" and the "Fast Eddie".
Syree, Marinn, and Amelia picked the Fast Eddie.
Aubrey and her friends waiting to get in their canoe.
Leaders ride it the paddle boats. I went out with Shae since she doesn't like the canoes. Since Shae is 18 and graduated we let her just pick if she wanted to be a leader or a girl. It was her sister's, Amelia, first year at camp so she came as a "leader" to be with her.
Since the paddle boats didn't have a name we named it "Big Bertha".

After Legacy Lake we went to the Challenge Course.
There are low level courses and then the high level course (or the zip line).
This challenge the girls are given some boards and told to use them to cross from one side to the other. The boards have to placed just right on each other and the tree stumps so that they do not touch the ground. Then they have to get their whole group across.

This challenge the girls all start on one side with a rope hanging in the middle. First they have to figure out how to get the rope without crossing the line. Once they get the rope they all have to swing across and over a line on the other side.

This challenge the girls have to walk across the log. Once they get to the other side they have to go back, so you end up with girls going both ways on the log. The girls have to figure out how to get around each other.
Mindy was in charge of this challenge, she is bracing to catch anyone who falls.
At the end of each challenge they apply it to the gospel. I love how this camp is able to find the spiritual side in everything the girls do.

The High Course
Shae helped all the girls get in their harnesses.
Savanah, Shauntel, Aubrey, and Sara all harnessed up, sporting helmets, and waiting for their turn.

Amelia didn't want to do the zip line, but after some convincing from her sister she did it and got up quicker than anyone else.

This year Mindy had everyone keep quiet about her French braiding skills. Every year she seems to spend all her free time French braiding, and this year she didn't want to be so tied up.

Girls Camp-Monday July 9th

Girls Camp! I was excited to get to go again this year. We had four leaders: Mindy, Carrie, Aleshia, and me;five girls in our cabin-Shae, Aubrey, Marinn, Syree, and Amelia; and two girls were YCLs in the stake cabins-Sara and Savanah. At 6am Monday we loaded up in the buses and headed off to Heber Valley Girls Camp. This camp is just gorgeous and the spirit is so strong all around, we are so lucky to get to go every year.
After unloading off the buses and unloading the truck and trailer, we had a special speaker. She talked about her trials with leukemia at age 16 and turning to Him. Then we did a service project. We were making baby rattles, rolling yarn, and tying quilts.
Sara showing Amelia and Syree how to make the baby rattles.
Shae, Marinn, and Sara working on the baby rattles.
Sara showing off her messy book.
Messy books are like a journal that you put scrapbook paper on random pages, write in, and tape random things in. It's like a journal except you might have rocks and sticks taped in it. Our ward made them last year and this year too.
Playing the cup game at dinner.
The YCLs introducing this years camp theme and showing off their flag for their country.
The theme this year was "The Light Within" and it was an Olympic theme. The YCLs were London, since they were "hosting" the Olympics. Their color was white-Faith. Our ward was Germany and our color was purple-Integrity.YCLs teaching everyone the camp dance. It was fun to have a dance this year and just have something else to do and bring the group together.Everyone doing the camp dance. That is my ward in the purple sweatshirts.
